These beautiful spring flowers are a delight. I love the way their petals unfurl to reveal such intense colour. With so much grey around at the moment, the vibrant blooms are a joy to behold. I always think of them as a “vintage flower”, maybe it’s because I’ve seen so many in paintings. During the sentimental Victorian era when all flowers had meanings, the anemone expressed “anticipation”. So, if a young lady received a tussie mussie or posy of anemones from an admirer, it would probably mean he was keen for a date.
I love arranging with anemones. As with most of the spring flowers, they don’t like oasis or being over handled but a mass of them simply arranged is fabulous!
